Vitamin D3 Chewable Berry Flavour is a quick, fun way to give kids “the sunshine vitamin”, especially during winter months. Kids enjoy the small tablet size and mild berry flavour, while parents appreciate a product free from artificial sweeteners and colouring, and common food allergens (dairy, wheat and yeast).

Vitamin D is both a vitamin and a hormone. It stimulates the body to absorb calcium and other minerals to support the health of bones and teeth. Vitamin D is called “the sunshine vitamin” because our bodies make vitamin D from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Vitamin D may play a role in prevention of colds and other viral infections (Ginde et al., 2009).
The recommended daily allowance (RDA) for children aged 3 and over is 600 IU (Health Canada, 2011). Chewable D3 provides 400 IU per dose, realizing that children may also obtain vitamin D from other sources. The ideal supplement for children not regularly exposed to sunlight for at least 15 minutes per day, if they have dark skin, or do not consume foods that contain vitamin D.
